amaranta is a first-gen mexican-american multimedia artist raised in Michigan and residing in brooklyn.

from a very young age, you’d find amaranta on her bedroom floor scribbling into various journals and writing stories about her stuffed animals. in fact, her very first scholarship got her to Cranbrook’s young author day camp. now, she likes to explore cultural identity & social observation through her personal essays, blog, and screenplays.
before turning the camera on, she got her start in documentary impact production with the Unapologetic (2021) Team. she is self taught in video editing and worked as a production assistant in los angeles for music video and marketing productions.
she is the producer, director, and editor of we are seeds, her debut documentary film that is currently in post-production. she is a 2025 Kartemquin diverse voices in doc fellow.
